Child Safeguarding Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-20
Wake Vocational Center works with children and young people. Their safety comes before everything else. This statement summarises our safeguarding commitments; a full policy document is being developed and will be published here.
Our commitment
Every staff member, volunteer and partner who works with children through Wake Vocational Center agrees to a code of conduct before any activity begins.
Code of conduct
Adults are never alone with a child in a closed space. All sessions take place in open, supervised settings. Physical punishment, verbal abuse and any form of exploitation are strictly prohibited.
Photos and stories
We never publish a photo of an identifiable child without written guardian consent. We never publish a child's full name alongside a photo, and we never share location details that could identify a child. Images on this site marked as placeholders are illustrations or licensed images, not photos of our beneficiaries.
Safe use of AI and technology
Where digital tools are used with children, sessions are supervised, age-appropriate and no child's personal information is entered into AI tools.
Reporting a concern
Anyone with a safeguarding concern involving our activities should contact us immediately on +254 722 357379. Concerns are taken seriously, recorded and acted on. Where a child is in immediate danger, contact the police or the Kenya child helpline 116.
Status of this policy
This statement was drafted at founding stage and will be reviewed and expanded with professional input as the organisation registers and grows.
